As I ventured through the Collis P. Huntington State Park, named after the famous railroad magnate, I witnessed remnants of Connecticut's rich history. The park was originally part of a land grant in the 1700s, and served as a hub for early settlers to farm and carry out trade. Along the trails, I encountered old stone walls dating back to the colonial era, and even saw a restored mill from the 1800s. As I stood at the edge of the park's pond, I couldn't help but think about all the people who have come before me and how their stories are etched into the landscape.
