The Beauty of Lake Abbe

Lake Abbe is an otherworldly natural wonder located in the border between Djibouti and Ethiopia. The scenery was nothing like I’ve ever seen – tall limestone chimneys, hot springs and salt flats surrounded us. The lake itself (actually, it’s a saltwater lake) was calm and serene. I captured some stunning photos of pink flamingos wading in the shallow water, and pelicans taking off from the surface of the lake. The history of the surrounding area is rich, and can be traced back to the Dinkas and Kikuyus.
