Flint Hills is a unique place compared to any other I have visited. Unlike the majority of Earth, this area has not undergone significant changes due to human activity. Tallgrass prairies, which once covered a significant portion of North America, now occupy less than 4% of their former range. With over 10,000 years of uninterrupted grass growth, the Flint Hills are a testament to the natural and ecological beauty that we can behold. The Flint Hills Scenic Byway cuts through this scenic stretch of rugged and rocky hillsides, enshrouded by vibrant green grasslands. The byway provides an awe-inspiring view of untouched beauty. The scenic highway is popular for scenic drives, hiking, and cycling. The area is vital to migratory bird species, such as meadowlarks, sparrows, and hawks. The Flint Hills have a long history and cultural significance for the Kaw and Osage Native American tribes.
