I arrived at Îles des Saintes, a group of small islands off the coast of Guadeloupe. The small town of Terre-de-Haut on the main island had a quaint feel with colorful buildings and French Creole cuisine. I visited Fort Napoléon, an old military fort with a museum showcasing the history of the island. The highlight of my trip was snorkeling at Pain de Sucre, a beautiful white sand beach. I marveled at the coral reefs and vibrant marine life including colorful fish and sea turtles. The locals were friendly and helpful with recommendations on where to eat and what to see. The island had a relaxed and slow pace, making it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
