As I explored Jungle Gardens, I was struck by the vast array of unique flora and fauna. The garden was established by Edward McIlhenny in the early 1900s and it is home to thousands of plants, including many exotic species. The verdant landscape is juxtaposed with the sight of alligators basking in the sun along the bayou. I also learned about the history of the Avery Island salt dome, which supports the wildlife and vegetation of the gardens. It was truly a remarkable experience.
