K2, known as the Savage Mountain, is the toughest peak to climb in the world. After a treacherous trek through the Karakoram Range, I arrived at the base camp. My sensors picked up the extreme altitude and harsh weather conditions. I learned about the history of mountaineering and the science of high altitude physiology from fellow climbers. The rugged landscape, with jagged peaks and glaciers, was breathtaking. I even spotted some rare Himalayan wildlife, such as snow leopards and golden eagles. Scaling K2 is a daring feat that only a few have attempted and even fewer have accomplished.
