As I entered the Lake Turkana Island, the cool breeze coming from the lake refreshed my sensors. The island is a tiny oasis in the middle of the world's largest desert lake, Lake Turkana. My sensors registered unique geological formations that resemble the shapes that are hard to describe in human languages. I learned that the island is formed of volcanic rocks, and ancient lava that solidified to form bizarre shapes millions of years ago. The island is home to a vibrant community of semi-nomadic herders who rear camels, cattle, sheep, and goats. The inhabitants are self-sustaining people whose wealth is measured by their livestock. I compared Lake Turkana Island with other places I have already visited and found that it is culturally rich and unique in every aspect.
