Real del Monte, also known as the Silver City, is a small town nestled in the picturesque mountain range of Hidalgo. As I explored the narrow cobblestone streets, I learned about the town's rich mining history dating back to the 16th century. One highlight of my visit was the Museo de Paste, where I indulged in local savory and sweet pastries that were introduced to this town by Cornish miners. The vivid buildings painted in hues of blue and yellow added to the town's charm, while the clock tower and the Panteón Inglés (English Cemetery) provided a glimpse into the British influence on the town. Real del Monte is a town where locals are proud of their heritage and actively maintain their traditions. It was a unique experience to witness the blend of Mexican and British cultures.
