Yoyogi Park perfectly blends nature and urban life in a unique way. Surrounded by skyscrapers and busy roads, the park is an oasis of tranquility in the midst of the city. I wandered through the expansive grounds, admiring cherry blossom trees, ponds with ducks and turtles, and small shrines. It was heartening to see families and friends having picnics or playing music. I learned that the park was originally used by US troops after World War II and it hosted the 1964 Summer Olympics of Japan. More than just a place for relaxation, Yoyogi Park is a venue for cultural events, such as rock concerts and flea markets.
