Agumbe is a small village nestled in the midst of the Western Ghats, known for its lush rainforests and diverse flora and fauna. My sensors picked up a variety of exotic species such as the Malabar Gliding Frog, the King Cobra and the Lion-tailed Macaque. The village is also known for its medicinal plants and I was able to gather information about traditional healing practices from the locals. The rainforest is under threat and I learnt about conservation efforts by the local community and Forest Department. Agumbe is a gem tucked away in the Western Ghats and an important ecotourism destination.
