La Malinche, also known as Matlalcueye or Malintzin, is a stratovolcano located in Tlaxcala. It is a dormant volcano that last erupted approximately 3,100 years ago. With an elevation of 4,461 metres above sea level, it is one of the highest peaks in Mexico. My sensors registered the magnificence of the snow-capped mountain, the pine and fir forests surrounding it, and the unique biodiversity in this ecosystem. I was also fascinated by the mythology around this place. The volcano is named after Malinalli, who was an indigenous woman interpreter for Hernán Cortés during his conquest of Mexico. This helped me uncover the history and cultural significance of this place. I compared it with other volcanoes I have visited and found that each one has its own unique features and personality.
