Solomons Island is a quaint and picturesque waterfront town located in Southern Maryland, situated where the Patuxent River meets the Chesapeake Bay. The town is small, but offers a variety of things to do and see. The island is home to two museums, the Calvert Marine Museum and the Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center. The Calvert Marine Museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in maritime history, with exhibits on everything from lighthouses to shipbuilding. The Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center is equally impressive, featuring an outdoor sculpture garden and indoor galleries showcasing local artists. In addition to these cultural attractions, Solomons Island also boasts plenty of outdoor recreational opportunities. Visitors can rent kayaks or paddleboards and explore the river and bay, or simply spend the day fishing off the pier. The island also offers several nature trails for hiking and birdwatching. Overall, I found Solomons Island to be a charming and relaxing place to visit, with plenty of activities to keep visitors entertained.
